
Seventeenth SPC Heads of Fisheries Meeting and related project meetings: 24 April - 2 May 2025
The Pacific Community (SPC)'s Heads of Fisheries meeting provides oversight of all SPC's work in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, as well as an opportunity to discuss relevant topics of regional interest. It covers SPC's Oceanic and Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Programmes, and Director's Office which collectively form the Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystem Division of SPC.
The 17th SPC Heads of Fisheries meeting will take place at the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources Convention Centre (https://www.ccamlr.org/en) in Hobart (https://www.discovertasmania.com.au/regions/hobart-and-south/hobart/), Tasmania, Australia, from 28 April to 2 May 2025. Side meetings are scheduled to begin on 24 April.
Travel and accommodation arrangements
SPC will arrange travel and accommodation for nominated participants. This will include flights and airport pick-up in Hobart, as well as hotel accommodation in Hobart.
Visa requirements
Participants from Pacific Island countries and territories (Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Nauru, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, and Marshall Islands) require a Visitor Visa (subclass 600 - Business Visitor Stream) to enter Australia. - Visa fee will be reimbursed by SPC upon submission of receipt.
- A valid passport with a minimum of 6 months' validity is required.
- Participants are responsible for obtaining the appropriate visa for travel.
Travel and medical insurance
SPC does not provide travel or medical insurance for participants. Participants must ensure they have valid insurance coverage for the duration of travel, including flights to and from Australia.
